A meeting was held on Saturday, the 30th of November by Careline Clinic stakeholders. Present at the meeting were mental healthcare workers of Kimberley. The purpose of this meeting was to give a report on the progress of the construction of the hospital and shareholding opportunities for the stakeholders in Careline clinic(Pty)Ltd.
Clinicians that were present expressed their great respect for the Careline initiative as it creates an incentive for doctors to remain in the country/province, given the fact that the country sees its doctors leaving to practice in other countries.
A matter of vital importance raised during the meeting was the issue of referrals and mental health bed capacity in the Northern Cape. Many mentally ill patients are transferred from Kimberley health facilities to facilities in Bloemfontein due to a lack of hospital beds. The Careline clinic hospital project development ensures that patients are given treatment and rehabilitation close to their home, family and friends.
We thank all that were present for this meeting and invite those with queries to contact us.
