The first ever campaign to advance mental health as a human right took place on March 20, 2023, with our celebrity guest of honour and Mental Health Ambassador Thami Mngqolo.
Some of the major companies in South Africa, including PSA, Metropolitan, Old Mutual, YSP, Virgin Active, In-House partners and numerous more, supported the Fun Walk. With at least more than 100 people taking part in the festivities, the Fun Walk was a huge success. Our Chief Executive Office, Ms. Yvette Lucas motivated the participants before the 10-kilometer walk got started.
Participants were encouraged to share their experiences and tales at all times, allowing them to gain knowledge from one another and provide support. Joyous music, lots of laughter, creative dancing and other fun activities was part of the day.
The day was concluded with participants receiving prizes, medals and complimentary vouchers from Mellisa Parkins Incorporated, Charné Bennett Social Work Services and Ryan’s Gym. The Fun Walk was a fantastic approach to promote mental health awareness and emphasize the significance that there is no health without mental health and affirming that mental health is a basic human right.
